A Celebrity of a different color

Postby Sarah93003 » Sun Dec 13, 2009 5:01 pm

I'm looking at a Celebrity that may be for sale and it is a color I have never seen before. I am wondering if anyone has seen this color before? The woman thinks it is a 1970 model but I think it is more likely a 1967. It has the tiny little dot markers. Any opinions here?

You got me. You going to buy it? That would make 2 Mosrites in your collection.

Hey, Sarah--

If that is a refinish, it was done long ago by someone who knew how to do it right.

That is a lovely guitar.

I was wondering if it might be a refin. It sure looks good! And, yes I'm thinking about adding another, although I'd rather the next Celebrity be a 12 string. If it's a great deal I won't pass it up though.

This was a color that Mosrite used in the late 60's. I have seen Mark 1's as well as Mark 5's (both non Ventures) in this color. It is a burgundy but the strange thing is every one I have ever seen in this color has those same blotch patterns in the finish when you look closely. I would think it was an amature re-fin but it was direct from the factory. This is an original and rare and blotchy finish.

I have a combo that same color...sort of burgundy wine.

I'm not sure the year but I want to say a 67.
