You're probally right, more a conversasional piece to most pickers than anything else.
I think they would make for a great family heirloom, I'm pretty handy at inlaying names
in Mother-of-Pearl in fingerboards, it would be kind of cool to have Grand Dad's ol' double
neck guitar displayed on the wall in years to come.

This has been a great post to read. I'd like to learn more about double necks. I've never played one and certainly the weight would be an issue if you're standing for very long. I keep thinking I would like to have a 6/12 double neck, to be more versatile, and have less guitars to tote to a gig. Of course the novelty aspect is very appealing and I think they look very impressive to boot!

Sarah I own a 1969 Gibson EDS1275 and it always gets commented on when I bring it out. It's not really that heavy and plays and sounds great . The Mosrite doubleneck I once owned as I remember wasn't that heavy either.

Is it difficult to play the lower neck, on a doubleneck guitar? I've wondered if the upper neck gets in the way while your're playing the lower.

Saraha. Not really you get used to it. In the 70's I used it as my main guitar for a few years and played 300+ night a year in those days.
