well, maybe you guys are right. accentually we are splitting hairs on labeling a guitar. However I can understand what Deke's saying, we mustn't mischaracterize a guitar, because it could lead to falsely evaluate it's worth in the vintage guitar market place.

Sarah on your question about the rosewood, usually older guitars used Indian rosewood, but because of environmental reasons (protecting the species from distinction) most companies started using rosewood from South America countries. The first time I saw this wood used regularly was in the 1990's, but I'm sure guitar companies have used South American Rosewood for several years.
Generally there not a difference in the wood, except the south American stuff is usually lighter in color with more strapping. The fret board wood used on Ricos is typically Bubinga. If you study the wood grain you will see it doesn’t look anything like rosewood. To my knowledge this wood wasn’t used on Mosrites, but never say never when it comes to the Mosrite guitar. ;)

I believe it is actually Brazilian rosewood that is a CITES-listed species, not Indian.

(Also, "accentually" and "distinction" don't mean what you think they mean. I think you were looking for "essentially" and "extinction." Unless of course you are one for intentional malapropisms, in which case, genius!)

I'm not 100% sure Adam, but there’s a law case pending now that allegedly claims Gibson in illegally bringing in woods from Europe and Asia to the US. I don't remember the countries where it was shipped from however but from what I remember it was Indian and Madagascar.

I was unaware there is a country named "Indian." Must be next to Canadia.

Question for ya Adam. Does your sarcasm make you come across as funny or as an aXXhole? Cuz I'm leaning towards the latter of the two.
