I think you should keep the Mosrite family alive and buy this guitar and say "oh heck, I cant have this, i'll give it to ImNotJohnnyRamone" and fly over to my house and give it to me by hand, or say "hey kid, catch" and I grab it and love you forever

I'm not very good at dating these. What kind of knobs does it have? Also, Was it missing a truss rod cover? It doesn't look like there are any screw holes but your pictures are a bit blurry. I don't see refinished Mark Is on eBay often, I don't think it would be worth more than $1,500. There was one similar to this in September last year, I think. It wasn't bid any higher than $1,000 and wasn't sold.

When I first saw the picture I though it might be an Excellent or Super Custom. Can the seller verify it is USA Mosrite?

It had the knobs w/ the M on the top, but no V on the bottom of them. There was no truss rod cover.

When he said $2,700.00 I litterally laughed out loud. I said that about double the value. He pointed at the Ventures logo & said "thats what makes it worth that much". I didn't wanna argue, but I was thinking "not really".

The frets were in kinda bad shape too. They had dents in the first 4 frets where the strings are.

It looks to be a '65 and the knobs appear to be correct. If all is original other than the finish, I'd say it should be worth between $2000-$2500 especially if it has the original hard shell case. A Fender Custom Shop '62 reissue Strat is around $2300 as is some of the current MIJ Mosrites. In comparison this Mosrite is the real deal not a reissue. Personally I'd rather have a nice refinished '65 Ventures model than an untouched 'after Semie' Booneville Arkansas Mosrite guitar.

A serial number was not mentioned. Blurry photos nonwithstanding, Judging from some of the hardware, and assuming this is the original hardware and the guitar is not a clone, it looks like the serial should fall between 3205 --> 3592. The mosrite timeline shows that the 7 to 8 pickguard screw change happened between that range. Also the knob change from smooth to "M" knobs happen over the same range. Truss rod cover change occurred after this range.
There is a later post saying the "M" knobs do not have "V" and "T" on them, which is confusing since that reputedly much happened later (1967) My Guitar serial #4630 has the "M" knobs with "V" and "T" on them for volume and tone. My guitar dates as a mid 1966 model from what I can tell. Anyone with a Ventures model with a serial number after mine # 4630 care to post if they have the "V" and "T" on their knobs.
