Re: 96 SG
a SG junior would also be in that 4-500 range. if the guitar has some wear and tear and not all original i can see a SG special for that price. just remember the specials had the dot inlay, and the standard had the trapezoid. the pickups are also different, but not a big deal. these guitars do play well. personally I think 1990's gibsons are made great. I just never could get into them because there bodies are too small for my taste. another reason why I love mosrites.
Cheers,

You got it. Thats what she looks like. Its very nice like no belt blues on the back or anything, the kid played hard core metal. He said it was only tuned to EADGBe ONCE...

Re: 96 SG
I was thinking about an SG Jr. The LP Jr was sexy, my dad had a 1958 LP Jr, all stock. He bought it in 69 for about $25 and he sold it. The guy who bought it cut it up, put in some screaming humbuckers, broke my dads heart. Maybe a JR anything would make him remember his childhood oh so long ago.

Oh man, that breaks my heart just hearing about it. If you tell me it was a TV Yellow double cut then you'll really be killing me. The SG Juniors are super cool. I'm a total sucker for the single P90 in the bridge.

Im 50% sure it was red. I'll ask him when he gets home. With the sucker thing, I'm a sucker for a plan looking guitar. Nice round body, not too flashy, nice PG, no bigger than it needs to be. Almost like a Mos'

Re: 96 SG
I'd say I'm a sucker for the plain thing but I think at this point I'm a sucker for a lot of things. I guess it depends on what sorta music I'm playing. My last couple of purchases were pretty far from plain. It's nuts what some people paid for the LP Juniors and SG Juniors back in the late 60s/early70s. One guy I know got his LP Junior from the trash!

I've always like the looks of the SG and plan to have one some day. LP's are okay, but for me, I'm mostly a double cut girl. Which probably explains why I love the Celebrity so much.

Re: 96 SG
Gibson seems to have wandered off course with some of their models though, as I remember the Specials (LPs & SGs) originallyImNotJohnnyRamone wrote:jfine wrote: '96--an SG Special (two black uncovered humbuckers, dot inlays) was a lot less, maybe $7-800.

having the P-90 pick-ups. The new Specials from the 80s onward are not much more than a stripped down Standard model......
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.
