GPC + Elliott pickups

Postby 6stings » Sat Sep 29, 2012 7:08 am

I snapped a 2001 GPC Guitarpunk from ebay, modified pickup routings to make place for a pair of Mr. Elliott's pickups I got from 'motiersbad'!
A new wiring, 500k pots, .022 old russian pio cap, Fezz Parka mod.
TOM bridge replaced with a Compton Compensated SS bridge.
The ugly old black pickguard replaced with my own.
A punk? Not any more!:D

Great job! What's the story on your interesting pickguard?

Just wanted to give it a fresh look. It's a clear guard with the black on orange print under it. The shiny parts are the aluminum adhesive shielding folie, 'chewed' and pressed.

Thanks, but it's not very original, actually, it's like the Gretsch, or Paul Setzer's custom pickguards - a clear plastic painted on the bottom side, only I didn't painted mine... :D

Very nice! How do you like the Compton bridge? I'm a really big fan of single piece bridges - there's so much more attack.

The Compton bridge works fine on this one, the intonation is almost perfect.
I use the Stainless Steel and the Brass on some Jets with the floating bridges, but also on guitars with 'pinned' bridges, if the original bridge angle is not to big.
The original TOM studs were too large for the Compton, they had to be replaced.

Here you go guys, the first sound check:D

I was wondering that myself Mel. I have them on my Gretsch guitars and love them. Intonation is much easer to set on a floating bridge though. You pretty much have what you have with the fixes studs.
