flat wounds usually have a tighter fit then round wounds of the same gauge, just as a heads up.

hi,
I have a Custom 60, first day I played it I broke the high e string as I was going crazy on the tremolo bar. I replaced them with EB slinkys 10s, felt great, and no problem. Last night I switched to 9s as I heard that's what Nokie was playing on his Mosrites but haven't heard anyone playing their Mosrites or Hallmarks with 9s. So far so good, the sound is definately lighter but tigther. I raised the treble side of the saddle slightly as the high e was buzzing just a little bit around the 12 fret.
I'm going out so I'll let the strings settle but am planning on doing a little demo for you guys.

hallmarks (24.75 like gibson) have a slightly longer scale then original mosrites ( 24.5 ) . gibson come with a 10 gauge from the factory and works well, but i usually use either a 9 or 10. mosrites do well with either as well. higher gauge is harder to bend, but also has a heavier tone.

I put D'Addario EXL 115 (11-49) on my Hallmark C60. Works great for me.
I was told not to use that gauge because the low E string wouldn't have stayed in the saddle but so far, I haven't had any problem.
