These come up on ebay fairly often, considering that not many were made. And take note of that familiar looking body when you see a Ventures II that doesn't look quite right, a clever luthier can build a phony one with one of these, buyer beware.

I had heard it was another deal like the Acoustic Black Widow, Semie needed work and the Melobar guy hired him to make a batch, probably 100, which Semie used leftover Mosrite parts on. I've seen two in all the years I've been looking around, though neither time was I interested enough to drop a grand on one of these. Cool, though!!

I have a Melobar body and it's the same overall shape as the Ventures II body, but the neck pocket is rounded off like a Mark I it's not square like the Ventures II.

With a little bit of work someone could easily make it look like a Ventures II.

The mollowbars were originally made in Hollywood.
The ones built by Mosrite had the mosrite pickups and knobs like this example.
Smiths also made some with vinyl upolstered foam rubber bodies, and his son made a few in the 80's as well.

these are kinda cool. it's really a lap steel guitar that you can play standing up. I got to check one out last year, like Deke, I really liked it, but not enough to drop 1000 bucks for it.
Cheers,
